KPSC Prelims Exam
You get a maximum of four hours to complete this paper.
There are two papers under this set. Each of the papers carries a total of 100 marks. All questions are printed in two languages; i.e. Kannada and English. The questions are all objective type with multiple choices for answers. They have a system of negative marking for every incorrect answer that you give. For each correct answer, you gain 2 marks and for each wrong answer, you lose 0.25 marks. There is a General Mental ability section in the question paper. For this section alone you can expect questions based on your tenth grade or SSLC level. The rest of the paper bears questions based on degree levels.
KPSC Mains Exam
This paper requires more descriptive/ essay type of answers. This question paper too is set in both the local language- Kannada and also in English. Apart from the regular paper, all candidates need to attempt two qualifying papers. One of them is in Kannada while the other in English. All candidates are expected to secure a minimum of 35% marks in each of the qualifying papers.
These are only meant to see if a candidate qualifies for the mains. However their marks are not counted in the final score.
